2007/2008 Herts Novice League
Congratulations to Jack Parsons and Connor Sutton!  In their first competitive match, Buccaneers Jack and Connor formed the majority of our Novice foil team to compete in the Herts Novice Foil League.

Along with Guy Miscampbell, they made a confidence boosting start to the Herts Novice League last night (3rd December) with a 45-24 win over an inexperienced University of Hertsfordshire team.

The Dacorum Team started well and took a large early lead.  The University fencers fought back well in the middle stages of the match, but in the end the initial lead proved to be too great to overcome.

Our thanks go to University of Hertfordshire Fencing Club for organising the evening and for making us so welcome.

Dacorum Buccaneers was formed in September 2006.
This was a result of a successful Awards for All grant and a generous donation from local graphics company Stylographics.

 
The aim of the club is to widen the opportunity for youngsters, between the ages of 12-16, to learn to fence.  We hope to achieve this by running regular introductory courses and taster sessions.
 
We run 3 introductory session per year, coinciding with the school terms.  After this students can enrol on more advanced courses, leading towards full integration with the Club.
 
Courses are held on Tuesday evenings from 7pm - 8.30pm in the Main Hall at:
Hemel Hempstead School,
Heath Lane
Hemel Hempstead
Herts
HP1 1TX
 
Official coaching finishes at 8.30, but the hall is available until 9.30, should you wish to stay for a while for free fencing, or extra individual lessons (if there is a coach available).

Costs for each student are inclusive of all equipment and coaching.
 
The hall is available for extra weeks during the year after the end of the course at an additional cost of £6 per night.
 
Details of taster sessions are yet to be organised, but are likely to be the week after each end of term at a cost of approximately £5 per person for 1 night's tuition.
